Newsroom for Bates Smart
The Brief
Bates Smart is an award-winning architecture firm which has 165 years of history and legacy, identifiable by a timeless black and white brand identity. To integrate modern social network sharing trends Bates Smart required a platform to share a range of news. This includes showcasing their new design and technology, announcing awards, sharing promotional videos, announcing publications and events as well as sharing fun stories within the company.
After a detailed case study of competitor’s websites as well as an analysis on user profiling and users’ navigation behavior based on website analytics, I designed and presented draft wireframes to a small sample of users to test the functionality of my design concepts.
The mockups below are based on earlier wireframes refined to incorporate key insights from the usability tests. The modern and clean look of the design highlights Bates Smart’s ethos as an Architectural design agency that is famous for a sparse sophisticated design aesthetic, at the same time it fits harmoniously into the existing site and branding.
